The much-awaited Ncell Nepal Premier League (NPL) is ready for its adventure from Wednesday as event managers Zohra Sports Management (ZSM) on Monday confirmed that all the preparations for the Nepal’s first professional-look cricket is over.
“We have given the final touch on both of the venues and pitches. We are no eagerly awaiting the opening ceremony which is going to be a grand one,” said Aamir Akhtar Managing Director of the NPL. “We have been here for two days and all the work have been completed in a systematic way. There is no stone unturned,” added Akhtar.
Fapla and Kanchanpur cricket grounds will share the NPL matches with the former holding the opening and closing ceremony. SA Games record gold medalist and ace taekwondo player Deepak Bista said NPL has given a new height to the development of cricket in the city.
“This is the first time Dhangadhi is hosting any such big cricketing event after the sixth National Games. This will help in taking cricket into a new height in Dhangadhi,” said Bista who hails from the city. “It’s really wonderful to see how Dhangadhi people have helped in NPL’s preparation. Now they need to be at the grounds to make it a grand success,” Bista added.
Region No 9 Dhangadhi vice-president Subash Bahadur Shahi was committed to leave no glitches. “We have been looking after each and every detail. We want to assure everyone that there will be not even a single problem to be pointed out,” said Shahi.
Meanwhile the players and coaches have begun to arrive in Dhangadhi. Sagarmatha Legends – led by national team cricketer Binod Bhandari – have already reached Dhangadhi. On the opening day, Legends will meet national team skipper Paras Khadka-led Vishal Warriors.
