We will be back with yellow Australia: Edwards

Cricket Australia Chairman Wally Edwards has reiterated Australia will be back next year but with a strong team.

Speaking to after the end of the Phil Hughes Tribute Match that concluded at the Tribhuvan University Stadium amidst much fan fare, Edwards lauded Nepal’s effort to give a unique tribute to Hughes.

“It was a fantastic match. The crowd of Nepal is amazing. Now we are waiting for Philip’s kits to be taken to Mt Everest. That will be a great honour,” said Edwards, who is also the head of the ICC Executive Committee.

Edwards had backed an annual Tribute Match in Nepal after he returned from his meet with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Friday and he once again repeated it.

“We will be back here next year. And Australia will be in yellow next time, not in red,” said Edwards referring to the Team Red that had combined of four Australia cricketers, including only Ryan Carters as a professional player, and Nepali players.

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Saturday had completed a successful Tribute Match for Hughes who had died on November 27 after he was hit by a bouncer during a Sheffield Shield match against South Australia on November 25.
