Visiting side Supaul of India defeated Province 7 by one wicket but the latter still made it through to the semi-finals of the Manmohan Memorial Cup One Day National in Inaruwa on Wednesday.
Electing to bat first, Province 7 made 184 all out in 42 overs before Supaul tried to play catch up with the required net run rate for semi-finals before reaching 185-9 in 38 overs.
Supaul, however, fell short in net run rate as Province 7 benefitted from their massive 118-run victory over Province 5 on Tuesday to march ahead with a net run rate of 0.74. Supaul had 0.38. Province 5, who had beaten Supaul in their first match, finished at the pit bottom with a negative net run rate.
In the first semi-final on Thursday, Province 7 will meet Nepal Police Club. The other semi-final on Friday pits Nepal Armed Police Force and Province 1 are other two semifinalists.
Skipper Bipin Rawal scored a half century to push Province 7 to a respectable total. He hit 54-ball 53 with five fours and a six. Roshan Adhikari (24) and Lokesh Bam (22) were other notable performers with the bat for them. Biswajeet took four wickets for Supaul, while Ajay Singh and Sumit Mishra had two scalps apiece.
Saurav Gill led the Supaul reply making 43 runs. Ajay Singh (28) was their next best scorer with Mohammad Isha (23) also getting into double figures.
Sher Malla returned the figures of 4-53 from 10 overs for Province 7 with Binod Lama also taking three wickets. Narayan Dev Joshi and Bikash Aargi scalped two each.
