U-16 cricketers get Rs 50,000 from govt

The national U-16 team on Tuesday were honoured with cash rewards by the government for claiming the ACC U-16 Premier League title


The government had announced the cash prize after Nepal won their final league match against Malaysia at the Kinrara Oval in Kuala Lumpur on August 20. All the 17-member team including coaches Raju Basnyat and Basanta Shahi Thakuri along with manager Ranjit Tamang received Rs 50,000 each.



Nepal are the only team to claim all the age group titles organised by the Asian Cricket Council including the U-19, U-17, U-15 and U-16 trophies.


Youth and Sports Minister Purushottam Poudyal, Secretary Dipendra Nath Sharma, Joint Secretary Chudamani Paudel and Naitonal Sports Council Member Secretary Yubaraj Lama honoured the cricketers during a programme at the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Kamalpokhari.
