Triton, KEC begin with victories in University cricket

Triton International College and Kantipur Engineering College (KEC) got off to a triumphant start in the first Inter University Twenty20 Cricket Tournament on Sunday.

Triton hammered Himalayan College of Engineering (HCE) by 97 runs following an all-round performance from Indra Kamal Manandhar. Triton piled a huge 167-6 in 20 overs before Indra Kamal wreaked havoc picking up 5-8 from 1.3 overs to bundle out HCE for 70 runs in just 13.3.

Earlier, man-of-the-match Indra Kamal also starred with the bat making a 20-ball 33 for Triton with two boundaries and as many sixes. Rabin Joshi top scored for Triton with a 40-ball 45 that included seven hits to the fence.

In the second match of the day, KEC survived a KIST Medical College ‘B’ scare to win the game by five runs. Electing to bat first, KEC were 132 all out in 19.5 overs but they bowled a tight line to restrict KIST for 128-3 in 20 overs.

Shrawan Raut – who took 4-14 for KEC – was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
