TAC hand Sound Image title

Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) handed over the first Wai Wai Gautam Buddha International Cricket Tournament to Sound Image, Lucknow of India succuming to a 14-run defeat at the Shree Buddha Padma grounds in Kapilvastu on Sunday.


After dominating the tournament leading second round through net run rate and heading into the final, TAC allowed Sound Image to reach 121-9 in 20 overs and got restricted to 107-7 in the final.


After the fall of senior experienced batsmen Anil Mandal (11) and Mahesh Chhetri (one), TAC fought back through Raghuvir Sunar (16) and Rajesh Pulami (14) but after the fall of both batsmen in a space of five runs, things started getting tough for TAC.


Rahul Kumar BK and Indra Kamal Manandhar (five) fought back with a 36-run stand but a disciplined bowling attack from Sound Image made life difficult for the national Twenty20 champions.


Rahul top scored for TAC with 31 off 27 with one boundary. Bikram Soob made 14 off eight with two boundaries. Mohammad Adhiraj and Mayank Yadav picked up three wickets each for Sound Image.


Earlier, Chandra Saud struck early with a duck-dismissal of opener Mayank but Sound Image fought back with a 42-run partnership between another opener Anurag Sharma and Adil Bakar (12).


Sound Image though kept losing wickets at the other end, Anurag made sure that the team put on a respectable total making 43 off 42 with three fours and two sixes. Raman Pal Singh was the next best scorer with Sound Image making a run-a-ball 15 hitting a boundary and a six.


Nischal Pandey was the pick of the TAC bowlers with 3-28 from four overs, while Rupesh Srivastav took 2-19 from three. Sound Image total was bolstered by 25 extra runs gifted from TAC.
