Sushant Singh smashed a 69-ball 140 not out as defending champions Public Youth Campus (PYC) entered the final of the PYC Inter-college TU BBA cricket tournament on Thursday.
In the second semi-final at the Mulpani Cricket Ground, Sushant’s whirlwind knock helped PYC inflict a humiliating 166-run defeat to Saraswati Multiple Campus. On Friday’s final, they will meet KCMIT who overcame Nepal Commerce Campus by 54 runs.
The day belonged to Sushant who clobbered 15 fours and six sixes and shared 191 runs for the second wicket with opener Irshad Ali leading PYC to a mammoth 207-2 in 20 overs. Irshad scored a gritty 42-ball 40 with four boundaries but was only a calm ally to Sushant.
A hapless Saraswati were bundled out for a paltry 41 in just 8.4 overs. None of the Saraswati batsmen managed to make runs in double figures. Rabin Saud took 2-6 from two overs for the holders.
Earlier in the day, a decent contribution from the middle order guided KCMIT to 159-7 in 20 overs. NCC, in reply, were 104 all out in 19.3 overs. Ajay Kumar Yadav top scored for KCMIT with a 21-ball 28 hitting three boundaries, while Dipesh Prasad Mandal (16) and Arbin Khadka (14) were other notable scorers.
KCMIT innings was built around a 70-run stand for the fourth wicket between Royal Pant and Amit Mandal. Man-of-the-match Amit top scored for them with a 31-ball 47 and Pant was unbeaten on 41 off 47 balls. Amit’s innings included six boundaries and two sixes.
Royal hit three fours and two maximums. Amrit Karki contributed 22-ball 30 with five boundaries in KCMIT total. Ajay Kumar Yadav was the pick of the NCC bowlers taking 3-26 from four overs.
