Sunshine College of Bhairahawa and Krishnanagar Team of Kapilvastu set the title clash of the MGVC Inter-college National Twenty20 Cricket Tournament on Tuesday.
At the Siddharthnagar Stadium, Sunshine defeated Nalanda Higher Secondary School of Bhairawa by four wickets and Krishnanagar edged Himalayan Academy of Kanchanpur by seven wickets. Nalanda made 138 runs after electing to bat first and Sunshine reached the total in 19.3 overs losing six wickets.
Zaheer Khana played a crucial role in sending Sunshine into the final smashing three fours and a six in 29 balls to make 42 runs. Zaheer was adjudged the player of the match. Bijaya BK also made 32 runs, while Antim Thapa chipped in 15, Wasir Ahmed made 14 and Aakash Gupta made 13 runs.
Sunshine were in dire straits at 62-6 before Zaheer and Bijay lifted the team. Sanjaya Bishwakarma and Saurav Srivastav picked up two wickets each for Nalanda, while Birendra Patel and Priyankar Tripathi took one wicket each.
Earlier, Shyam Sukla top scored with 34 runs for Nalanda and Shakti Srivastav made 25. Man Bahadur Thapa and Wasir Ahmed took two wickets each for the winning side. Antim, Zaheer and Aakash also picked up one each.
In the other semi-fnals, Krishnanagar made 131-8 in 20 overs after they were put in to bat first. Anurag Sharma top scored with 43 runs, Harshi Sukla contributed 24 and Prashant Singh chipped in 23 for Krisnanagar.
Santosh Bhatta picked up three wickets for Kanchanpur with Dinesh Agri getting two and Lalit Singh Bhandari and Dipendra Singh having one scalp apiece.
Kanchanpur were sent packing for just 124-6 after man-of-the-match Mayank Yadav took three crucial wickets. Shakti Bhandari made 32 and Suresh Chand made 21 for Kanchanpur. Sabak Khan also picked up two wickets for the winners.
