Sudur Paschim Province entered the final of the Laitpur Mayor Women’s Championship on Wednesday.
In their final league game, Sudur Paschim got the better of Lumbini Province by eight wickets to set the final date with Nepal APF Club.
It will be second final appearance for Sudur Paschim at the national level tournamen having reached the final of the Prime Minister Cup two years ago. Wednesday’s result also means an early exit for Prime Minister Cup champions Provine 1.
Sudur Paschim had stunned Province 1 by 40 runs on Tuesday to put their one foot in the final.
Laxmi Saud had taken a hat-trick against Province 1 and the spinner wreaked havoc once again, this time picking up three middle order wickets in a single over that saw Lumbini get restricted to 72-9.
Sudur Paschim reached the target in just 12.3 overs losing two wickets. Manju Bokati and Rewati Dhami laid the foundation for an easy Sudur Paschim victory adding 38 runs for the first wicket.
Manju made 26 off 30 with three fours, while Rewati contributed a 22-ball 17 with two hits to the fence. Both the openers fell to Kritika Marasini. Bindu Rawal also made 20-ball 17 with two hits to the fence.
Earlier, Lumbini struggled from the start of their innings and Laxmi broke the backbone picking up three wickets in the 14th over including that of their skipper Nary Thapa (11). She had also gotten rid of Lumbini’s top scorer Laxmi Chaudhary who made 26 off 29 with three fours.
Lumbini were pushed to back foot after Kabita Joshi removed their consistent performer Saraswati GM for just nine runs. Saraswati came into the match with unbeaten scores of 46 and 50 in her first two games.
Laxmi won her second consecutive player-of-the-match award for the figures of 4-17 and Ritu Kanoujiya took 3-14 from four.
