Sri Lanka wins the second test

Sri Lanka has won the second test match against Pakistan by nine wickets and leads the three match series 1-0 held at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on Sunday.

 

Sri Lanka chasing the target of 137 runs in the fifth and final day finished the game in their favor with loss of one wicket. For Sri Lanka Kaushal Silva scored 58 runs while Dumuth Karunaratne remained unbeaten making 62 runs made sure about win for his team.

 

In the match Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first. Pakistan could manage to make 165 runs in their first inning. In reply of Pakistan’s first inning, a century form former captain and most experienced batsman Mahela Jayawardene Sri Lanka made 388 runs and took lead of 233 runs.

 

Pakistan who was 233 runs behind Sri Lanka’s first inning score could manage to make 359 runs in their second inning.

 

Mahela Jayawardene was elected as Man of the match for his 129 runs in Sri Lanka’s first inning.

 

The third match of the series will be played at Sharjah on January 16.
