Sri Lanka has won the only T20 international match against England by nine runs held at Kennington Oval in London on Wednesday. The win was made possible as Man of the match Thisara Parera took one wicket bowling second and also scored quick fire 49 runs batting first.
England won the toss and asked tourist to bat first. Sri Lanka was able to make 183 runs in their 20 overs losing seven wickets. Parera was the highest run scorer for Sri Lanka who made 49 runs in just 20 balls with two sixes and seven fours. Apart from Parera, Lahiru Thirimanne made 40 runs while Kithuruwan Vithanage contributed 38 runs.
Chasing the target of 184 runs in 20 overs England was able to make 174 runs losing seven wickets. Alex Hales was the highest run scorer for England who made 66 runs in 41 balls with two sixes and seven fours. For Sri Lanka Captain Latish Malinga was the highest wicket taker in the match who took three wickets.
Now Sri Lanka and England will meet each other for the five match One Day International series that will start form Thursday at Kennington Oval in London.
