Sri Lanka has won the gold medal in Incheon Asian Games on cricket by defeating Afghanistan by 68 runs in the final of the tournament.
Sri Lanka won the toss in the match and elected to bat first. After losing their first wicket on 7 runs in 1.2 overs they were able to make 78 runs in 10 overs losing the only wicket. But as after Afghanistan bowlers could not let Sri Lanka team to build partnership they were all out in 19.1 overs making 133 runs.
Lahiru Thirimanne was the highest run scorer for Sri Lanka who made 57 runs while Dinesh Chandimal made 33 runs. Mohammad Nabi was the highest wicket taker for Afghanistan who took four wicket conceding 18 runs in 3.1 overs.
Chasing the target of 134 runs with the hope of winning the gold medal Afghanistan were all out for 65 runs in 17.4 overs. Jeevan Mendis was the highest wicket taker for Sri Lanka who took three wickets. Likewise Isuru Udana took two wickets conceding one runs in three overs to make sure Sri Lanka win the gold medal.
