As Eddie Leie took three wickets in his debut match, South Africa defeated Bangladesh by 31 runs in the second T20 International match held at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday. With the win South Africa clean swiped two match series by 2-0.
Home team Bangladesh were 52 for 1 in 6 overs. Leie came to attack and took wicket of Soumya Sarkar who was batting on 37 runs, in fifth ball of his first over in T20 International cricket to set platform for South Africa to win the match. He took three wickets conceding 16 runs in his three overs because of which Bangladesh were bundled in 19.2 overs making just 138 runs.
Sarkar was the highest run scorer for Bangladesh who made 37 runs in 21 balls with six fours and a six. Rony Talukdar also contributed 21 run. For South Africa Kyle Abbott and Aaron Phangiso also took three wickets each.
Earlier South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. They made 169 runs losing their four wickets in 20 Overs. Wicket keeper and opening batsman Quinton de Kock was the highest run scorer for South Africa who made 44 runs in 31 balls with four fours and two sixers.
AB de Villers who came to bat at opening in first match and was out making only two runs came to open on today’s match also and made 40 runs in 34 balls with six fours. Likewise David Miller made 30 runs.
Now South Africa and Bangladesh will meet for first of three match ODI series on July 10 at Dhaka.
