Sound Image enter semi-finals in Rupandehi

Sound Image, Lucknow of India made it to the semi-finals of the Wai Wai Gautam Buddha International Cricket Tournament in Rupandehi on Thursday.

Sound Image defeated Khukuri Club by 11 runs after an influential performance from man-of-the-match Adil Bakar led them to victory. Sound Image made 137-7 in 20 overs before restricting Khukuri to 126-9. Adil was the star of the day lifting his team from 18-3 and shared a 69-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Prashant Singh.

Singh made 27 off 36 with three boundaries before losing his wicket to Dhiraj Kumar. Bakar, however, carried his fine form taking the team across triple figures and lost his wicket for 40 off 39 with one six and a boundary.

Manish Yadav played a seven-ball cameo off 16 with two sixes and a boundary that was enough for Sound Image to pile on a competitive total. Dipendra Yadav was the pick of the Khukuri bowlers with the figures of 4-17. Jitendra Shahani picked up two wickets.

Khukuri had a perfect reply with their openers Ankit Singh and Sabin Shakya (nine) sharing a 39-run stand before they lost three wickets for just one run including that of the former. Singh made 21 off 23 with one four and a six.

Antim Thapa (19) then shared 28 runs with Aakash Gupta but after both batsmen lost their wickets to Karan Singh, Khukuri hardly managed to make a comeback. Gupta clobbered two sixes and a four in his 14-ball 22. Singh and Deepak Yadav picked up three wickets each for Sound Image.

Meanwhile in a match that was reduced to seven-over-a-side due to wet ground conditions, Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) of Nepal crushed Haryana Cricket Federation of India by nine wickets. The top four Haryana batsmen failed to open their account before the whole team managed just 17-6. TAC reached the target in just seven balls finishing at 18-1.

Rupesh Srivastav (three) and  Rahul Kumar BK (three) remained unbeaten. Earlier, man-of-the-match Srivastav picked up two wickets from two overs for TAC. Monu Dalal (seven not out) was the top scorer for the visiting side.
