Nepal’s U-19 fast bowling sensation Som Pal Kami will leave for Sri Lanka on Tuesday after cricketer was approved visa for the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers.
Som Pal stayed back though the national team left for Sri Lanka, to fine tune their preparation for the Qualifiers, because his passport was in New Zealand for visa processing. The World Qualifiers which will run from January 13 to February 1 will send two teams for the 2015 World Cup.
“We are just left to collect his passport on Monday and he will be on board for Sri Lanka on Tuesday,” a team source said. Som Pal has already missed two practice matches of the national team who returned victors in both occasion.
Nepal are yet to play two more matches and they will end the tour with a match against Bloomfield Club on December 26. National team is also expecting to play four more practice matches against the local clubs as they are leaving to acclimatise with the local conditions 10 days prior to the event.
Impressed by the pace from Som Pal, coach Pubudu Dassanayake put faith in him for the pace and bouncy conditions of New Zealand, sidelining experienced Amrit Bhattarai.
Som Pal had taken 10 wickets during the Journey To World Cup Cricket Tournament held in Kathmandu.
