Nepal’s young pace sensation Som Pal Kami has found his name alongside Sri Lanka’s Upul Tharanga, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and Afghanistan’s Mohammed Nabi in the 2014 Asian Games Select Team.
The team is headed by Sri Lanka – who clinched gold in the Asian Games held in Incheon from September 19 to October 4 – captain Lahiru Thirimanne. The Select-XI includes Sri Lanka’s Tharanga, Dinesh Chandimal and Jeevan Mendis, Bangladehsh’s Hassan, Tamim Iqbal, Mashrafe Mortaza, Nabi, Malaysia’s Ahmed Faiz, Hong Kong’s Nadeem Ahmed and Waqas Barkat (12th man).
Nepal missed out to clinch a medal in the Asian Games when they lost to Afghanistan in the semi-final. Sana Mir of gold medal winning women’s team Pakistan was named the skipper in the Women’s Asian Games Select Team.
The list was prepared following a request from the ACC President Jayantha Dharmadasa. The players were selected by ACC Development Officers, Aminul Islam, Venkatpathi Raju, Rumesh Ratnayake and Iqbal Sikander, content in the Asian Cricket Council website reads.
