Siddhant joins ton-scoring spree; Riders through to final

Siddhant Lohani joined the ton-making spree of Anil Kumar Sah in the Mayor Cup Saptari Premier League but his Bode Barsain Thunders side only mananged to sign off the tournament with victory on Thursday.

It was Rupani Riders who became the first team to reach the final of the tournament after the Kushal Bhurtel-led side eased to a six-wicket win over TVS Kings Bajaj. Riders stay at the top with six points with Bajaj Khadak Warriors, Tilathi Koiladi Giants and TVS Kings Rajbiraj still in the hunt for only one spot available.

Warriors, for whom Anil won two consecutive matches with back-to-back centuries, can still make through on net run rate even if they lose their last league game to Kings. A Kings victory on Friday will also open up chances for Giants but net run rate will come into play.

The day belonged to Siddhant who struck a magnificient 49-ball 100 leading his team to a huge 101-run victory over Giants. One-time national team member SIddhant stroked 12 fours and six sixes helping Thunders reach 185-8.

The man-of-the-match also returned to take three wickets and Bishal Sushling had four scalps as Giants were bundled out for just 84 runs in 14.4 overs. Dipendra Singh Airee top scored for Giants with 27 runs and Dipesh Kandel (19) was their next best scorer.

Lokesh Bam was the match winner for Riders scoring a 12-ball 35 not out and picking up two wickets.

Skipper Kushal led from the front for Riders in the first match of the day striking a half century to help chase Kings’ 161-8 inside 16.2 overs. Kushal made a 33-ball 52 hitting six fours and two sixes.

Amit Yadav also hammered 45 from 31 balls with five fours and two sixes, while Lokesh Bam struck a 12-ball 35 not out with four sixes and a four. Niraj Mukhiya chipped in 23 runs.

Earlier, Sonu Ansari top scored for Kings with a 40-ball 45 with his innings including eight boundaries.

Suraj Kurmi made 27, Mehboob Alam contributed 23 and Aasif Sheikh scored 13. Man of the match Lokesh also took two wickets for Riders.
