New Shrijanshil Club of Attariya began their Dhangadhi City School Dhangadhi Cricket League (DCL)-2 campaign with victory today.
Shrijanshil cruised past Dhangadhi Cricket Academy (DCA) by 64 runs in the inaugural day match. Batting first, Shrijanshil were all out for 160 in 37.2 overs after they put in to bat first in a 40-over match. Three wickets each from Dinesh Bhattarai and man-of-the-match Dipendra Saud then packed up DCA for just 96 runs in 28 overs.
Middle order batsmen Neurin Ansari and Bhuwan Thapa tried to rescue DCA from a humiliating defeat but after both batsmen headed back to pavilion, Shrijanshil filed a comprehensive victory. Neurin made 27 and Bhuwan scored 19 for DCA.
Earlier openers Gyanendra Kunwar and Santosh Karki gave a steady start for Shrijanshil but with the dismissal of the latter, they struggled. Gyanendra top scored in the match 35 runs and Janak Kunwar contributed 22 valuable runs. Asutosh Kunwar was the pick of the DCA bowlers picking up five wickets, while Bhuwan had four scalps.
In the tournament which is only played during the Saturdays and Sundays, Kailali Multiple Campus will meet Sudur Paschimanchal Academy on December 22. The winners and runners-up of the eight-team tournament will collect Rs 30,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.
