Sharks swallow Jaguars, Kiwis ride on Rhinos

Sainik Sharks of Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya and DAV Kiwis of DAV School opened with victories in the Wai Wai School Cricket Series on Wednesday.

 

Sharks eased to an 82-run victory over Galaxy Jaguars of Galaxy Public School riding on a half century from B Kumal, while Kiwis also had an easy ride overcoming KINS Rhinos of Kathmandu International School by 77 runs.

 

Sharks amassed 150-5 in the Twenty20 game and with S Khadka (3-10) and M Bhandari (3-4) sharing six wickets between them, Jaguars were 68 all out in 15.2 overs. S Dallakoti ably supported the major tormentors of Sharkas pickng up 2-18.

 

Opener S Karki (21) was the only Jaguars batsman to manage double figures. He hit three boundaries in 32 balls. Earlier, Kumal opened with a 50-run first wicket stand with S Bhandari (10) before adding another 47 with D Dhanuk.

 

Kumal lost his wicket for 57 runs off 48 deliveries smashing nine boundaries. Dhanuk pushed the Sharks total close to 150-run mark adding 36 for the third wicket with M Pandit (11). Dhanuk made 36 off 32 with four hits to the fence. B Jagari picked up two wickets for Jaguars.

 

In the first match of the day at the Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya grounds, Kiwis made 146-9 and squeezed out Rhinos for 69 in 19.3 overs. M Raj (18) and R Mahaseth (10) were the only Rhinos batsmen to make runs in double figures.

 

S Gupta picked up (3-12) for Kiwis, while B Kumar and B Rao also getting two wickets apiece. S Gupta (30), R Prasad (22) and J Sharma (20) contributed to the Kiwis total.

 

Kiwis victory shadowed M Raj’s valiant performance with the ball who returned with 5-20 from four overs.
