Sharad to play Goa Premier League

Nepal’s Sharad Vesawkar has landed himself a spot in Goa Premier League (GPL) – a reputed cricket tournament of the Indian state – where he will play for Sun Estate Warriors.

 

Sharad is currently in Mumabi playing the All India DY Patil Twent20 Corporate Cricket Tournament for Mumbai Customs. Sharad has so far played two matches against the likes of famous Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan, Parthiv Patel and Piyush Chawla.

 

In a letter written to the Cricket Association of Nepal by Sharad, the right-hand batsman said he will be playing under Shadab Jakati’s leadership for the Warriors in the GPL that will be held till March 8 and began on February 25. Jakati plays for Chennai Super Kings in the India Premier League.

 

Sharad said it has been a fruitful tour for him. “Overall, this tour has taught me lot of things and I am gaining that much needed expoosure required to succeed in that top level of cricket,” said Vesawkar who said Indian High Performance Coach Prabhakar Bairgon offered him a spot for Warriors in the GPL.

 

“As I was playing this tournament, one of the coaches of India Mr. Prabhakar was following my on field activities and he approached me after the game to play a professional T20 league in GOA,” wrote Vesawkar in the mail.
