Nepal’s ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers hero Sharad Vesawkar has left for the USA on Thursday to play cricket tournament and a league in Chicago.
Sharad, whose six in a crucial moment against Hong Kong placed Nepal in the ICC World Twenty20, will be playing for Punjab Lions. The tournament will be held in the last week of August, according to the player himself.
Lions are a franchise of Venture Sports Management and include some of the former world renowned cricketers like Mohammad Sami and Shabbir Ahmed of Pakistan apart from Mervyn Dillon of the West Indies.
After the tournament, the middle order batsman will participate in the North Texas League. Sharad got the opportunity to play with Lions with the help of Rakesh Karn – a former national player who previously played in various national and regional cricket tournaments in Nepal.
Sharad will return to Nepal in the second week of September to join the national team for the 17th Asian Games cricket. The Asian Games begins from September 19 to October 4.
