Nepalese star leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has been officially announced by Hobart Hurricanes to play Australian Big Bash Premier League (BBL) for the this season.
The 20-year old played the last two seasons of the Australian premier Twenty20 league for Melbourne Stars grabbing 26 wickets from 21 matches. His performance was pivotal in Stars’ journey into the final last season.
Sandeep will link up with the Hurricanes’ squad in January.
“I am humbled and honoured to join the Hobart Hurricanes family for this year’s BBL,” Sandeep said in a statement on franchise’s official website. “I have always got a lot of love and support in Australia, and the premium quality of competition in Big Bash is exciting.”
In a cursed 2020 season hit by Corona Virus pandemic, Sandeep played two major Twenty20 leagues. He played for Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League where he snatched 12 wickets in 10 games.
His next stop was the Indian Premier League in the UAE but didn’t feature in a single game despite the capital based franchise Delhi Capitals reaching a historic final.
The Big Bash League is scheduled to begin mid-December.
