Nepali national cricket team’s youngest player Sandeep Lamichhane is set to be honored with Sports Talent Award.
Ministry of Youth and Sports in honoring Sandeep along with other nine sports personalities from 10 different sports discipline. The award will be handed over during a ceremony on August 12 during the World Youth Day.
16 years old Leg spinner Sandeep took 14 wicket during U19 World Cup held at Bangladesh. With the help of his bowling Nepal U19 was able to make to second round of the tournament. Lamichhane also took a hat-trick against Ireland.
Making debut for National team in two home match against Namibia on ICC World Cricket League Championship he took three wickets.
Apart from Sandeep, Navayug Shrestha of football, Nima Gharti Magar of wushu, Phupu Lhamu Khatri of Judo, Gaurika Singh of swimming, Bipana Pariyar of Athletics, Nisha Rawal of taekwondo, Para sports coach Kumar Paudel, Khokho and Kabaddi Coach Ram Narayan Raya and Triathlon Association will be felicitated during the program with Sports Talent Award.
The award holds a cash purse of one lakh rupees each.
Joint secretary of Ministry of Youth and Sports, Chooda Mani Paudel told about the award during farewell program of Nepali national cricket team who are heading toward England to play five friendly match including a match in Lord’s Cricket Ground on July 19.
