Sachin honored with Bharat Ratna

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar was awarded with India’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna award during a program organized at Indian President’s palace on Tuesday.


Former legendary Indian batsman Tendulkar is the first Indian sports person to receive the honor received the award from Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.


Tendulkar also became the youngest ever award winner who received at award at the age of 40 beat legendary hockey wizard the late Dhyan Chand to the highest civilian honour of India..

  The batting maestro had retired from the Test match cricket after playing the second and last test match against West Indies in November to end his 24 years long International Cricket carrier.


Tendulkar who is the leading run scorer in Test matches and One Day International was also awarded with Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian award.


Tendulkar’s name was recommended by the Prime Minister’s Office. The Prime Minister’s Office had collected informations on Tendulkar from the sports ministry on November 14. Two days later a formal announcement was made after formalities involving the Prime Minister and President were completed.
