Joe Root’s highest run in One Day International helped home team
England win their match against Bangaldesh in the opening of ICC Champions
Trophy by eight wickets.
Chasing a target of 306 runs England managed to win match before
16 balls remaining in the match as Root made not out 133 and adding 143 runs
partnership with captain Eion Morgan for third wicket.
Root played 129 balls with 11 fours and one six while Morgan who
made not out 75 played 61 balls with eight fours and two sixes. Man of the
match Root who came to bat at number three also had 159 partnership with Alex
Hales who made 95 runs before being caught off Sabbir Rahman.
Earlier with the help of Tamim Iqbal’s 9th ODI century Bangladesh
managed to make 305 runs in thier 50 overs losing six wickets.
Iqbal made 128 runs in 142 balls with 12 fours and three sixes.
Iqbal added 166 runs with wicket keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim (79 runs of 72
balls) for third wicket.
