Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of upcoming Champions League T20 because of injury. Sharma has been ruled out because of his shoulder problem and his fracture finger.
Sharma had fractured his middle finger of his right hand during fielding in the second ODI against England in England. Murali Vijay was replaced in place of Sharma. Sharma might be out of the cricket for a month.
As Sharma is sure to miss the Champions League T20 to be held in India from September 13, Mumbai Indians will now have to search for new captains.
In absence of Sharma Harbhajan Singh is expected to lead the team but there are other two contenders for the post of captain and they are Kieron Polland and Lasith Malinga.
Sharma has been leading the team from the middle of 2013’s edition of Indian Premier League from Australian former captain Ricky Pointing.
Mumbai Indians will play their first match of Champions League T20 with qualifiers games against Lahore Lions on September 13.
