Rangers, Tip Top, Riders, Warriors in semi-final

Kocher Rangers, Tip Top, Riders and iStore Warriors entered the semi-finals of the Tip Top Marwadi Super 8’s at the Tribhuvan University Stadium on Thursday.

Rangers underlined their title credentials edging KBH Nepal by 15 runs to finish unbeaten in Group ‘B’ with nine points from three matches. Batting first, Rangers made 55-6 from seven overs before restricting KBH to 40-3. Rangers had earlier overcome Tip Top by five wickets.

Tip Top followed Rangers as group runners-up cruising to a seven-wicket victory over Fighters. Niraj Agrawal’s 15-ball 18 helped Fighters post 58-5 and Tip Top reached the target in last ball of their innings replying with 62-1. Amol Sharma chipped in an invaluable 25-ball 32.

Riders finished winners in Group ‘A’ despite losing their last league game to iStore by nine runs. iStore made 81-5 with a nine-ball 27 from Tushar Agrawal. Riders had a strong reply but they fell nine runs short losing two wickets in the process.

Both Riders and iStore were tied on six points each but the former won the pool on net run rate. iStore had double delight on Thursday defeating Sajangoth Champs by 39 runs. Pawan Bansal smashed a 13-ball 42 not out with three eights and two fours as iStore piled up a mammoth 99-3 in seven overs. Champs were restricted to 60-6.

In other two matches of the day, Fighters defeated KBH Nepal by 22 runs and Champs saw off by five wickets.
