Former U19 captain and all rounder Prithu Baskota will miss the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup to be held in Bangladesh from March 16 because of his injury.
Baskota who suffered from his right knee injury after colliding with Sharad Vesawkar during a match against Uganda in ICC World Cup Qualifiers in New Zealand on January.
Baskota who has been a part of Nepali squad since 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games was not a part of ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers held at Dubai because of Anterior Cruciate Ligament of the right knee while playing football during a training session at the TU Stadium ahead of T20 Qualifiers.
Coach Pubudu Dassanayake has included fast bowler Amrit Bhattrai in place of Baskota as he failed to pass the fitness test on Wednesday.
Amrit Bhattrai an experienced left handed fast bowler was with the team during ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Dubai while was replaced by rookie fast bowler Som Pal Kami during ICC World Cup Qualifiers in New Zealand.
Coach Dassanayake informed that as Prithu is not fully fit and failed the fitness test Amrit has been included in the team. Dassanayake has chosen Amrit from Anil Mandal, Bhuwan Karki and Mahesh Chhetri and Amrit himself for the T20 World Cup to increase strength in fast bowling department.
The technical committee of ICC is yet to give the approval for the change of Amrit in place of Prithu.
