Chitwan Tigers, one of the six franchises in the TVS Everest Premier League, named Prithu Baskota as their skipper for this season.
The former U-19 skipper Baskota had led Nepal to the 2012 ICC U-19 World Cup in Australia, while he also handed Nepal the ACC U-15 and U-17 Elite Cup titles. Tigers have Dipendra Singh Airee as their marquee player, while Anil Mandal, Lalit Singh Bhandari and Dilip Nath are other national team players in their squad.
“We are the youngest team in this EPL and we believe that Prithu will lead the team perfectly,” said Kishor Bhattarai, president IDD Group Pvt Ltd that owns the Chitwan Tigers franchise.
Kalam Ali is the bowling coach and Dipendra Chaudhary is the batting coach for Tigers which will soon reveal their international recruits. Every EPL franchise need to have three international players in their squad.
“We are soon unveiling them (international cricketers) and the hint that we can give to you is that two of them will be playing the Indian Premier League this season. All the three of them have Ranji experience,” said Bhattarai.
Prithu was excited for the tournament to start. “Without keeping any expectations right now, I would like to say that we will go match-by-match. We have a good young side that is eager to perform in the ground,” said Prithu.
