Prajjwal the key as Nepalgunj win

A day after leading Region-V (Nepalgunj) to an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Region-II (Birgunj) Prajjwal Shahi played yet another astonishing knock to hand his team a win with same margin over Region-VII (Janakapur) in the Senior One Day National Cricket Tournamenton Tuesday.

 

Half centuries from Hari Shankar Sah and Abhishek Jha lifted Janakpur to 236 all out in 45.5 overs but their defense fell flat after Prajjwal’s brilliant 93 helped Nepalgunj finish at 237-2 with 48 balls to spare. Prajjwal had also made 96 not out against Birgunj on Monday.

 

Prajjwal opened the Nepalgunj innings with an 81-run first wicket stand with Siddhant Raj Shahi, who chipped in with a 35-ball 26 hitting four boundaries. He then shared another 99 runs with Anupam Singh to all but hand his team the victory.

 

Prajjwal fell seven run short of a century making 93 off 110 with 13 boundaries. Anupam was involved in another 57-run unbeaten partnership with Subendu Pandey as Nepalgunj with a healthy margin. Anupam made a significant contribution in the team’s victory scoring 71 off 79 with seven hits to the fence.

 

Subendu was 31 off 28 not out hitting four boundaries. Hari and Sushant Mandal picked up a wicket each for Janakpur.

 

Janakpur were clueless in their innings when three wickets from Siddhant, two from Aakash Bista and one from Prajjwal reduced them to 73-6 in 20.5 overs. Hari shared 88 runs for the seventh wicket with Abhishek pushing the team towards a respectable total.

 

Hari made 68 off 99 with seven boundaries. Abhishek, who shared 39 runs with Sushant, was out for 58 off 63 after hitting six fours and two sixes. Sushant and last man Sanjog Karn (20 not out off nine) offered a late resistance for Janakpur.

 

Aakash (3-49) and Siddhant (3-28) shared six wickets between them, while Avinash Bohora also picked up a wicket for Nepalgunj.
