Abinash Bohora continued to impress with his bowling in domestic cricket as the medium pacer picked up five wickets in Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club’s crushing 135-run victory over Province 1 in their first match of the Prime Minister Cup One Day National cricket tournament on Saturday.
At the TU cricket grounds, opener Aasif Sheikh gave a quick fire start as APF built on to make a challenging 243 all out in 48.4 overs. The total ultimately looked mammoth after Province 1 were bundled out for just 108 runs in 42.4 overs with Abinash wreaking havoc.
Man-of-the-match Abinash took 5-18 from 10 overs and kept six maiden. Such was APF dominance that none of the Province 1 batsmen managed to reach 20 runs. Minash Thapa was the top scorer for them with 18 runs.
Firdosh Ansari (17) and Dipesh Kandel (16) were other batsmen offering brief resistance. Veteran left arm spinner Basanta Regmi also bowled a tight line to take 2-13 from 10 overs. His spell included three maiden.
Earlier, Aasif accelerated the score smashing a 29-ball half century while collecting 71 runs for the first wicket with Subash Khakurel (19) inside nine overs. His 32-ball 59 included six boundaries and five sixes.
After Aasif’s departure, Province 1 managed to contain the APF middle order and took control reducing the opponents to 126-5. Basanta, however, rebuilt the innings with a 66-run sixth wicket stand with Sundeep Jora (30). Basanta’s 52-ball 40 included four boundaries and two sixes.
Firdosh, Dipesh, Hemant Rai and Sarwan Yadav took two wickets each for Province 1.
