Vernon Philander became the fastest South African bowler to take 100 wickets in test match cricket at Wanderers on Friday. Philander got this record when Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan was caught at second slip by Jacques Kallis.
Philander who is playing his 19th test match crossed the record for South Africa, earlier made by Dale Steyn who got this mark in 20 test matches.
Philander also became sixth bowler in the world to take fastest 100 wickets. George Lohmann is in the first to take 100 wickets playing only 16 matches while Charlie Turner, Sydney Barnes and Clarries Grimmet got the mark in 17 tests with Ravichandran Ashwin in 18 test matches are ahead of Philander.
He made his test debut in Cape Town in November 2011 against Australia. His first wicket in test match came in his third over when Phil Hughes was caught behind by Mark Boucher.
