Pentagon International College claimed the Ultimate Indoors Inter-college Super Cup indoor cricket tournament title on Tuesday.
At the Ultimate Indoors facility in Koteshwor, Pentagon defeated Rajarshi Janak College of Janakpur by 13 runs. The title handed them a cash purse of Rs 100,000.
Batting first, Pentagon made 129 in 18 overs before Rajarshi could only manage 116. Every wicket will see five-run deduction with a batting pair allowed to play for six overs.
For Pentagon, Dipendra Mainali made 26 runs and national team opener Naresh Budhayer chipped in 21. Arun Airee picked up three wickets for the losing side.
Man-of-the-final Mainali also picked up a wicket for Pentagon. Airee also gave an all-round show making 20 runs with Sudharshan Joshi (16) also amongst runs.
In the semi-finals that was also played on Tuesday, Rajarshi had hammered Kathmandu College of Management by 32 runs and Pentagon had won their match against Triton International College following the latter’s withdrawal.
Pentagon’s Mainali was adjudged the man-of-the-series and got Rs 10,000. Budhayer and Prakash Bista of Kaustuv were named the best batsman and bowler’s award respectively. They got Rs 5,000 apiece.
