NSJF declared the Special Award directly on the stage on Tuesday. The Special Award is a category that honours sports personalities or bodies for their contribution that has brought change in the society through sports.
A former Army man Pawan played a crucial role in the development of blind cricket in Nepal in a very short span of time. After establishing the CAB in 2006, the game became systematic under a certain system with various regional and national tournaments being organized.
Pawan’s direct involvement in the game saw Nepal play their first ever Cricket World Cup for Blind being the only non-Test playing nation in the tournament that was held in Bangalore last year.
Pawan and CAB also gave Nepal a distinct status of being the only country to have a women’s cricket team. The achievement has also won CAB a nomination in the Beyond Sports Award that is to be staged in America.
