Sri Lanka, on Friday has appointed their former assistant coach Paul Farbrace as their head coach on a two year contract which will start from January one.
Farbarce who is now in the job with English County club Yorkshire was chosen ahead of current assistant coach Marvan Atapattu and Sussex club coach Mark Davis.
Issuing a statement Sri Lanka cricket board informed that choosing form different candidate they have chosen Frabrace as their new coach.
Frabrace’s first assignment as a coach will be at the Asia Cup to be held in February in Bangladesh. His next tournament will be T20 World Cup which will also be organized in Bangladesh on March-April.
Frabrace had worked as an assistant coach under Trevor Bayliss in the year 2007 to 2009. In that period Sri Lanka came to No. 2 spot in test ranking and also reached the final of T20 World Cup. But later on he left Sri Lanka to become Kent’s director of cricket.
