Nepali cricket lovers can soon see Nepali national team skipper Paras Khadka playing at No 4 alongside England Test skipper Alastair Cook as the former ODI skipper has made himself available for the Marlyebone Cricket Club (MCC) squad for the Emirates Twenty20 to be held in Dubai from March 20.
Paras, one of the most decorated crickets of the country, was named in the MCC squad on January 19 for the tournament that also includes Yorkshire, Sussex and Lancashire.
MCC on Thursday announced its squad which will be led by England opener Nick Compton and will include Graham Onions and Michael Carberry as some of the renowned names in world cricket.
Cook – who was recently replaced by Eoin Morgan as England skipper that saw him lose the World Cup and tri series in Australia – will also compete in the Champion County match, the annual curtain raiser for the English county season, which begins on March 22.
Cook has given green signal over his appearance in order to gain match practice ahead of England’s three-match Test series against the West Indies in April. MCC will meet Yorkshire in the Champions County.
Paras will not play the Champions County. The MCC is yet to confirm its final player for the tour. MCC are announcing an international Twenty20 star next week who will make up the final squad for the Emirates Twenty20.
Other cricketers in the MCC squad include, James Hildreth, Zafar Ansari, Daryl Mitchell, Sam Billings, Matt Dunn, Adam Riley and Chris Rushworth.
