Nepal defeated Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) U-25 by 36 runs at the Roshanara Club grounds on Tuesday on the back of a solid 80 runs from skipper Paras Khadka.
Playing against a completely-changed DDCA side, Paras hammered 80 off just 58 balls lifting Nepal to 148-6 in 20 overs. The hosts, in reply, were restricted to 112-9 in 20 overs handing Nepal their first victory after losing to another DDCA U-25 side by four wickets on Monday.
The day belonged to Paras who dominated Nepali innings smashing seven boundaries and a six. Opener Subash Khakurel made 25 off 17 with five boundaries in the top order, while Pradeep Airee (12) and Gyanendra Malla (13) also gave good support to their skipper.
Sagar Pun’s misery with the bat continued as he was removed for a duck on Tuesday. Abhishek Bhatti picked up three wickets for the hosts.
Sagar, however, made-up for his batting failure picking up four wickets in DDCA innings. Openers Mohit Sharma and Saurav Pasi gave a mediocre start to DDCA until Jitendra Mukhiya gave a breakthrough dismissing the latter for 16 to trigger the batting collapse.
Sagar then returned with 4-23 from four overs and Basanta Regmi took 10-2 from his four to destroy the middle order. Mohit made 19 off 21 before Subash stumped him off Sagar. Both the openers hit three boundaries apiece.
Reeling at 76-7, Nitesh Lochabh and Manoj Chauhan (seven) batted patiently for a while adding 31 runs before Jitendra got rid of both batsmen in the first two balls of the 19thover. Nitesh top scored with 26 off 17 with two sixes and boundaries.
Nepal will play another DDCA U-25 team at the same grounds on Wednesday.
