National team skipper Paras Khadka has been declared fit to play against the United Arab Emirates in Nepal’s ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers opening encounter on Monday.
Paras will play against UAE but is unlikely to bowl. Paras had a light back strain during a training session and didn’t show-up for Nepal’s official warm-up fixtures against Namibia and Kenya. Nepal went on to lose both matches.
Meanwhile, regular opener Subash Khakurel has been discharged from hospital after five days. Subash was admitted following a viral fever and will not play in the match against the UAE.
Mahesh Chhetri will open in place of Subash along with Anil Mandal. Sagar Pun will bat at No 3, while Paras, Gyanendra Malla, Binod Bhandari, Sharad Vesawakar, Basanta Regmi, Shakti Gauchan, Jitendra Mukhiya and Som Pal Kami will be in the final-XI for UAE showdown.
Along with Subash, Prithu Baskota, Pradeep Airee and Avinash Karn will be rested.
