The Youth and Sports Ministry on Monday honoured national team skipper Paras Khadka with National Sports Talent Award – the second award for the 26-year old after he was declared the Pulsar Sports Award.
The award carries a purse of Rs 100,000. On the occasion of International Youth Day, the ministry also honoured other four sports personalities with same award. Chahana Bamjan Lama of wushu, Sunil Lama of karate and Jamuna Gurung of football won the award.
Nepal Volleyball Association won the Best Association award.
Since Paras is in Sri Lanka for a 15-day tour with the national team preparing for the ACC Emerging Teams Cup was not available for the award and his father Mohan Khadka did the honour on his behalf. Paras led Nepal to three international titles and one runner-up finish.
A Paras-led Nepal had won the ICC World Cricket League Division-IV (in Malaysia) and Division-III (in Bermuda) titles along with ACC Trophy (in UAE). His man-of-the-series performance in the ACC Twenty20 put Nepal in their first every final of the ACC’s biennial event. He was also declared the man-of-the-series in the ACC Trophy.
