Pakistan start Zimbabwe tour with win

With the help of Ahmed Shehzad’s half century Pakistan started the tour of Zimbabwe with a win of 25 runs in first T20 International held at Harare Sports Club.


Zimbabwe won the toss and asked tourists to bat first. Ahmed Shehzad played some brilliant knock to make 70 runs helped Pakistan to score 161 runs in their allocated 20 overs. Shehzad played 50 balls and scored six fours and one six.


Sohaib Maqsood who debuted in t20 international for Pakistan came in number five and made 26 of just 16 ball where he hit one four and two sixes.


Likewise Boom Boom Afridi who was on not out made 23 runs of 16 ball with one sixer and 1 four.


Zimbabwe bowler could not make much more pressure to Pakistani batsman though they took wicket on regular basis.


With the target of 162 runs Zimbabwe started the inning, opener Masakadza and Sibanda played som fine inning and made partnership of 53 runs in 7.5 overs for the first wicket. But as the both the openers were out in 12.2 overs then the match was out of hand of Zimbabwe. Pakistani bowlers were able to keep the pressure to Zimbabwe and restricted to 136 runs in their 20 overs with the loss of five wickets.


Shahid Afridi was the highest wicket taker of the match with three wickets for 25 runs in his four overs. Anwar Ali and Mohammad Hafeez also shared 1-1 wicket in their name.


Ahmed Shehzad who scored half century was awarded with the man of the match award.


These teams will play second and last T20 of the tour on August 24 at the same venue.
