NSC hands CAN responsibilities to CEO Ghimire

The National Sports Council (NSC) has handed the responsibility of handling all activities of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) to its Chief Executive Officer Bhawana Ghimire.

NSC’s decision comes a day after it directed the CEO not to work with the newly formed committee led by Chatur Bahadur Chand – president of the body that the sports governing body has deemed invalid.

Chand was unanimously elected the president of the CAN by a faction of the cricket governing body from a December 16 general assembly which NSC had not authenticate claiming it had not followed due process. The general assembly was not supported by President Tanka Aangbuhang and its panel.

NSC Member Secretary Keshav Bista said Ghimire will take the responsibilities until the crisis in the cricket governing body comes to an end.

“She will follow our guidelines and coordinate with the international governing bodies because we have a lot of cricketing activities coming in and they shouldn’t be affected,” Bista told
