Nepal Police Club (NPC) claimed the Khukuri Devibas Super 8’s
cricket tournament title on Saturday at the TU Grounds.
In the final of the seven-over-a-side game, Tip Top made 78-5
after Subhendu Pandey contributed a 11-ball 26. Every six was given as
eight runs. Subhendu hit two boundaries and as many 8s.
Prashanna Shakya also
chipped in a 12-ball 24 with two 8s and a boundary and Sandeep Jora
scored 13 of eight balls with one four. Tip Top were unable to lift
their total after Manjeet Shrestha took 3-13 off two overs. Kushal
Bhurtel also had two scalps.
NPC reached 79-4 in 6.4
overs with Shankar Rana slamming a 22-ball 32 with two 8s and a
boundary. Kushal put an allround show making eight-ball 22 with two
eights. Prakash Bista took 3-9 from two overs for Tip Top.
The winners got Rs 100,000
and runners-up took Rs 50,000. Manjeet was named the player of the
series and got Rs 25,000. Sonu Tamang and Lalit Rajbanshi were named the
best batsman and bowler respectively earning them Rs 10,000 apiece.
