Nothing to worry about Paras

National team coach Pubudu Dassanayake said skipper Paras Khadka has a little back strain but there is nothing to worry about him.

Paras left the pitch retired hurt for 26 during Nepal’s second practice match against Canterbury Selection-XI which Nepal won by six runs.

Paras didn’t return to bat in the match and is also not in the team for Tuesday’s another practice match against the same side.

“Paras had a light back strain. He would have continued batting but we wanted him to take it easy today,” Dassanayake told from New Zealand.

Dassanayake also said Nepal is still adjusting to the New Zealand conditions but: “We still haven’t reached the level we want to be for the tournament. But everyone is on the right track.”

The Canterbury Selection-XI consisted of few state level players and U-19 boys against whom Dassanayake believed his side is satisfied playing.

Nepal will complete the pre arranged practice tour from Tuesday’s match and will head into the tournament proper with official warm-up fixtures against Kenya and Namibia.

Nepal’s ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers campaign will begin with the match against the United Arab Emirates on January 13.
