Nepali camp stressed on the importance of getting frequent exposure as they finished a disappointing fourth in the ACC Women’s Premier at the Prem Oval in Thailand on Monday.
Nepal have left for Thailand aiming a top three spot and the camp was even confident to achieve the target but after losing to Hong Kong by seven wickets on Monday with their batting frailties exposed, coach Umesh Raj Upadhayay and skipper Rubina Chhetri said a lot had to be done.
“We came here (Thailand) and performed according to our abilities. We lost three of our matches not because our performance is deteriorating but because other opponents have come through a long way raising their levels in every other means,” said Rubina.
“We were not expecting our opponents to come this way after defeating them several times in the past,” added the Nepali skipper.
Rubina further described, “I request the Cricket Association of Nepal to provide us with regular training. We neither need quality food nor quality hotels. The only thing that we require from the time on is regular practice which can provide us better exposure.”
Coach Umesh Raj Upadhyay said Nepal deserved to lose against Hong Kong. “Nothing worked for us today. We were below-par in all three departments. Our players need to play as many practice matches as possible,” said Upadhyay.
