National team skipper Paras Khadka and regular opener Subash Khakurel will miss Nepal’s crucial ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers match against Scotland on Thursday.
Paras is yet to recover from his back strain and was struggling during his bowling spell – which was divided into three halves – against UAE. Nepal went on to lose the match by 102 runs and Paras was not able to make any impact.
“Other players are capable to fill in the vacancy in the batting department even if we miss Paras. But his experience and leadership might be missed,” said coach Pubudu Dassanayake on the eve of the match.
However, the coach is still in the wait to see how Paras shapes up in the morning on Thursday.
Subash, meanwhile, though has recovered from the viral fever, he is not match-fit and his participation against Scotland is ruled out.
The news is a huge loss to the Nepali team which is already hit hard by the opening loss to UAE.
