In a very competitive match, New Zealand thrashed Australia by just one wicket while chasing target of 152 with 161 balls remaining in match held at Eden Park, Auckland.
New Zealand win was made possible by their captain Brendon McCullum and inform batsman Kane Williamson. McCullum made quick fire 50 from just 24 balls with seven fours and three sixes. While Williamson made steady 45 from 42 balls with five fours and one six to take his team to four straight win.
Chasing the target of 152 of New Zealand overcame the target in 23.1 overs losing their nine wickets. New Zealand could not make an easy chase as Mitchell Starc took six wickets conceding 28 runs in his nine over spell.
Earlier Australia who choose to bat first after winning toss were all out for just 151 runs as man of the match Trent Boult took five wickets in his 10 over spell conceding 27 runs. Tim Southee and their veteran left arm spinner Daniel Vettori booked two wickets each in their name while Cory Anderson had a scalp.
For Australia their wicket keeper batsman Brad Haddin was the highest run scorer who made 43 runs from 41 balls. While opener David Warner 34, Shane Watson 23, Aaron Finch 14 and captain Michael Clarke 12 were only able to make double score for Australia.
