Nepal’s first ever Tweny20 International Series is close to be called off after bad weather and rain forced an early abandonment of their match against Hong Kong at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Friday.
After bad weather forced abandonment of two consecutive days, the organisers Asian Cricket Council had opted to give them a full series with the first match starting from Wednesday but with only three days remaining in the tour, the entire series is under serious doubt.
ACC had planned to set the first two Twenty20 on Friday and Saturday with the third on November 24 — Monday — calling off the one off 50-over game between the two sides. But with more rain expected for the next few days, only official announcement is left regarding theseries abandonment.
Not even a single ball has been bowled in the series. Although Dambulla had witnessed only a morning drizzle on Thursday, three-day of consecutive rain had left the ground unplayable even the groundstaffs tried hard.
On Friday, there were no players or officials at the stadium with a meeting going on between the captains, coaches and managers of both sides discussing over the tournament.
A decision is yet to come but the series is potentially called off.
