Nepali opener Kushal Bhurtel has been announced as one of the three nominees for the Player of the Month award to be declared by the International Cricket Council.
Kushal has been nominated for the award for the month of April. Pakistan duo of captain Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman. Both the players were the top performers for Pakistan in their tour of South Africa.
Kushal, meanwhile, was in a sublime touch after he scored 278 runs during the Tri-Naion Twenty20 International Series from April 17-24 in Nepal that saw him sky rocket to 61st position in the Twenty20 International rankings.
The Tri-Series involved Netherlands and Malaysia with Kushal scoring four half centuries in five matches he played at the TU grounds. Kushal had had a successful outing as he capped a memorable tournament, his debut in Twenty20 Internationals, with a magnificent 77 against the Dutch in he final, while setting up the team for a record victory in the format.
He had struck 62 runs in each of the first two matches against the Netherlands and Malaysia before scoring 16 and not out 61 in the next two matches of the second leg.
He also became the only debutant in the world to hit three consecutive half centuries in Twenty20 Internationals.
