Nepali U-19 team leaves for Malaysia (photo feature)

The Nepali U-19 team on Friday left for Malaysia to participate in the ACC U-19 Eastern Region tournament — a qualifying event for November’s ACC U-19 Asia Cup. Nepal are pitted in Group ‘A’ of the Eastern Region where it will play Thailand, Bhutan and Singapore and will play their opening game against the Thais. 

The ACC U-19 Asia Cup is also scheduled to be held in Malaysia. Only the winners from the Eastern Region and a separated Western Region tournament will play Test playing nations India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. 
The Nepali team will be led by newly recruited skipper Dipenra Singh Airee who had replaced leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane as the skipper. Binod Das is the coach and he will be assisted by Kalam Ali. 
Nepal team had trained under batting consultant Monty Desai, India’s famous talent scout and former coach of Indian Premier League outfit Rajasthan Royals. Desai had mentored Nepali youngsters for 10 days and is also leaving for India on Friday.
