Nepal have begun their preparation for the ICC World Cricket League Division-III with the Sri Lanka tour from Monday. Nepal will play three warm-up games against the local clubs in the island country.
Nepal will play the first match against Sri Lanka Ports Authority Club on Wednesday, a Combined-XI team on October 18 followed by a match against Colts Cricket Club the next day.
All of the teams are the ones against whom Nepal have played in the past during their warm-up tours. Apart from the warm-up matches, Nepal will undergo intense training in the nets playing against the local net bowlers.
Coach Pubudu Dassanayake is expecting Sri Lanka to be another fruitful tour. “The Division-III is an important tour for Nepal. The Sri Lanka tour will be helpful in shaping ourselves pretty well with the 50-over version specially after playing a lot of Twenty20 in the recent past,” Dassanayake told cricketingnepal.com.
“During the SL tour we will amend our mistakes in every aspect of the game. It will be also about perfecting the players in the roles that they have been given,” added the coach.
The Division-III begins in Malaysia from October 23-30 with the top two teams making it to the Division-II slated for next year in Namibia. Nepal will be up against Malaysia, Uganda, United States of America, Bermuda and Singapore in Division-III. Nepal’s warm-up Games Match no 1 – SLPA vs Nepal – 15th Oct
